We use the present
perfect tense to talk about things that happened at some time in the past and
have a connection to the present.
Its main
purpose is to demonstrate the relevance of past action or situation with the current
conditions.
The present perfect is
often used to suggest that a past action still has an effect upon something
happening in the present.
The present perfect
form of a verb is made up of two parts.
1. Positive statements are
formed like this :
Subject have/has Past participle
I
You
We Have finished
They
He/She/It Has eaten
I
You
We Have finished
They
He/She/It Has eaten
2. Negative statements are
formed like this :
The formula is S + aux. verb(have/has) + not + V-3/past
participle
Example : I have not/haven’t finished
3. Questions are formed like this :
The formula is aux. verb(have/has) + S + V-3/past participle ?
Example : Have I finished ?
